Patient Stories: Colon cancer leads to a blood clot. RIA Endovascular provides relief.

Patient Steven W. shares his experience:

I was diagnosed with colon cancer. Unfortunately, this led to me becoming septic. I developed a clot in my portal vein, causing life-threatening side effects. I was also in a considerable amount of pain from the pressure the clot was causing in my abdomen.

I have worked at Porter Hospital for years and I know what a great service RIA Endovascular provides to our patients. I trusted that Dr. Todd Kooy would take excellent care of me. I regard him as one of the best physicians I know. RIA Endovascular’s great reputation is very well known throughout the community.

Dr. Kooy saved my life!

I saw immediate results after my TIPS procedure. He was able to remove the clot without any complications. I had quick relief of my symptoms. The pressure quickly ceased, and my pain subsided after my procedure. I absolutely saw an improvement in my quality of life.

The clinic staff was awesome. It was easy to schedule my appointment to see Dr. Kooy. I felt like he did an excellent job of explaining the procedure. His bedside manner was calm and confident. My wife and I both felt like we were in the right place at RIA Endovascular.

I would tell people to trust RIA as a whole for your care. They were so kind and efficient throughout my entire experience.

I had been suffering for a very long time, but I’m excited to say that after only two weeks post procedure, I felt strong enough to go on a long off-shore fishing trip in Puerta Vallarta. I never thought that would be possible.
