Meet the Doctors: Matt Brown, MD
Matt Brown, MD, shares his path to interventional radiology and why working at RIA Endovascular is so rewarding.
How, when and why did you decide to pursue a career in medicine?
In college, I wasn’t sure what exactly I wanted to do. I thought about being a teacher or engineer, but neither felt right. My father was an engineer, and my mother a nurse; medicine ended up being a good mix of the best part of both those jobs. I feel very lucky to have found a career that is rewarding on both a personal and professional level.
What do you like most about your job?
My favorite part is how happy the patients are with the recovery time and results after our procedures. Being able to treat conditions through a tiny incision and have the patients say “That’s it?” afterwards never gets old.
What is your favorite way to spend free time?
I try to spend as much time as possible outside with my wife, Amber, and our lazy, 120-pound mutt, Morris. I also have a 1984 Toyota 4X4 truck that I am slowly fixing up.
What do you like most about working at RIA?
My colleagues. Everyone at RIA, from the front desk to the physicians, is not only technically great, but they’re genuine, caring people. The teamwork shines through in everything we do and our interactions with each person.
