Patient Bill S. shares his story:

I had a large blood clot in my leg for two years, stretching from the calf to the abdomen. The area from my hip to my foot was swollen and purplish in color, and gave me some ongoing pain. I was told it would take 18 months to two years to dissolve, but it did not clear because the clot was caused by an undiagnosed pinched vein. By the time the pinched vein was diagnosed, the vein had become scar tissue, with little hope of repair.

Two surgeries by another doctor in early 2018 attempted to clear the vein, but were unsuccessful. After the second surgery, I was told the scar tissue could not be removed so I would have the clot for the rest of my life. That second surgery was considered invasive and caused hemorrhaging, landing me in Littleton Adventist Hospital 2 days later via an ambulance. That is where I met Dr. Stratil for the first time.

Dr. Stratil felt confident that he could clear out the scar tissue and restore the vein. He would then insert stents, where appropriate, to prevent the vein from collapsing and eliminate the pinch-off area.

He did exactly what he planned! When I awoke from surgery, my leg already looked more normal. Over the next few days, it continued to improve, and more than 10 pounds of edema disappeared.

Thank you, Dr. Stratil, you changed my life!
