Treat Uterine Fibroids With Minimally Invasive Uterine Fibroid Embolization

Why Choose Uterine Fibroid Embolization Over Other Treatments?

UFE offers significant advantages over traditional surgical options for many women:

Minimally Invasive: Forget large incisions and a lengthy hospital stay. UFE is performed through a tiny incision, typically in the wrist or groin, as an outpatient procedure. You can often go home the same day.

Preserves the Uterus: Unlike hysterectomy, UFE allows you to keep your uterus, which is a significant consideration for many women.

Faster Recovery: Patients generally experience a much quicker return to their daily activities compared to surgery like myomectomy or hysterectomy.

Effective Symptom Relief: By cutting off the blood supply to the fibroids, UFE effectively shrinks them, leading to substantial and lasting relief from heavy bleeding, pain, and pressure.

General Anesthesia is not required:
The procedure will be performed with conscious sedation, reducing risks associated with general anesthesia.

Addresses All Fibroids: UFE can treat all fibroids present, even small ones, during a single procedure, unlike myomectomy which often targets only the largest or most problematic ones.

What is Uterine Fibroid Embolization?

Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) is a highly effective, image-guided procedure performed by interventional radiologists. It's a non-surgical treatment designed to shrink uterine fibroids by blocking their blood supply.

Here’s a brief overview:

Consultation: Your journey begins with a thorough consultation to discuss your symptoms, review your imaging, and determine if UFE is the right treatment option for you.

The Procedure: A small catheter is guided, usually from an artery in your wrist or groin, to the arteries supplying blood to your uterus. Under X-ray guidance, tiny particles are injected into these arteries, effectively blocking the blood flow to the fibroids.

Post-Procedure & Recovery: The procedure typically takes about an hour. You'll rest for a short period in recovery and can return home the same day. Most women experience some cramping for a few days, managed with medication. Your fibroids will gradually shrink over weeks to months, and symptoms will improve.
