Tyler Green, MD, Shares his Thoughts on PAE
Tyler Green, MD — Vascular & Interventional Radiologist
At RIA Endovascular, we’re dedicated to delivering advanced, minimally invasive care that prioritizes patient comfort, safety, and outcomes. One procedure that exemplifies this commitment is Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE), a cutting-edge option for men experiencing bothersome urinary symptoms due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Having completed my medical training—including diagnostic and interventional radiology residency and fellowship at the University of Colorado—and now serving as a vascular and interventional radiologist at RIA, I’ve witnessed firsthand how transformative PAE can be for many patients.

What Is PAE & How Does It Work?
Prostate Artery Embolization is a non-surgical, image-guided technique that blocks select arteries supplying blood to the prostate. By delivering microscopic embolic particles through a catheter the procedure reduces blood flow to the prostate, causing it to shrink over time and alleviate lower urinary tract symptoms.
Clinical Benefits: Why It Matters
PAE offers several compelling advantages compared to traditional surgical options like TURP (transurethral resection of the prostate):
  • Minimally Invasive: Performed under local anesthesia in an outpatient setting, with no incisions.
  • Improved Safety Profile: Lower risks—particularly impactful for older or medically complex patients—compared to surgery or general anesthesia.
  • Durable Relief: Research supports sustained symptom improvement in urinary symptoms as well as resolution of bleeding for those with bleeding into the urine from the prostate.
Why RIA Endovascular?
We’ve been at the forefront of interventional radiology since our founding in 2005—offering a broad range of minimally invasive procedures in office-based outpatient settings. Our team comprises board-certified, fellowship-trained interventional radiologists who blend expertise with compassionate patient care.
My Final Thoughts
PAE represents a remarkable fusion of innovation and patient-centered care. It offers men struggling with BPH a safe, effective path to relief—without the recovery time, risks, or invasiveness of traditional surgery.
As both a physician and someone dedicated to empowering patients through education and quality care, I’m proud to offer PAE at RIA Endovascular. My patients are our partners, and I’m committed to working closely with each one to choose the treatment path that best fits their health and lifestyle goals.
